The Wolf Ridge Parents for Kids group recently donated $1,500 to Wolf Ridge in order to help defray the costs associated with an upcoming swing-set purchase for the students of Wolf Ridge. The donation was made at the February regularly scheduled meeting of the Board of Education.
The check was presented to Wolf Ridge Principal Shonda Ronen to assist with the purchase of 6 swings to be added to the Wolf Ridge playground. The bulk of the project will be paid for from the district’s recent $5,000 awarded for winning the AASA “Leaders Matter” essay contest. However, additional funds were needed to cover the additional costs associated with the installation, such as mulch and frames to border the area.
Wolf Ridge PFK President Julie Fulton explained that this year’s first Santa Stroll Fun Run and 5K was “such a successful event that made it possible to contribute to this purchase.” The PFK plans on holding this event annually in downtown Bunker Hill each December. Principal Ronen gratefully accepted the donation, and is looking forward to the new swings to be installed this spring as “students have expressed a desire to have swings on their playground.”
