Yesterday the challenge group at Wolf Ridge was able to take a field trip to The Great Rivers Research and Education Center in East Alton, Illinois. The students were able to learn about different habitats in the river and near the river. They learned how to test the pH levels in the river water versus pond water as well as test for oxygen levels in each area. They were introduced to different types of lab work that is done in the research center and were even able to talk to a few scientists! The students had a scavenger hunt using fossils of river animals and trying to find what animal the fossils came from. It was a great day had by all!
