Mrs. Mac’s 8th grade Spanish students recently enjoyed working together in creating sentences. These types of activities in which students collaborate and share ideas are engaging and help to create a positive classroom culture.

BHHS calculus students are seen here participating in a challenging, collaborative activity. Students are matching functions with first derivatives and second derivatives making note of properties of increasing/decreasing and concavity.

Last week BHHS FFA celebrated National FFA Week. BHHS students celebrated by participating in themed dress up days, a canned food drive, students driving tractors to school and cooking lunch for staff. FFA Students also attended the Section poultry contest and placed 5th as a team. Logan Helling placed 9th overall in the varsity division.

In Art I and Art II, students used charcoal to depict a subject of their choosing with the Principle of Design “Emphasis” in mind. Most of them had never used charcoal prior to this project, and we are very proud with how these turned out!

What an outstanding performance by our BHHS Drama Club tonight! The drama students and Mrs. Eschbach are seen here exchanging gifts at the conclusion of the play. Thank you to the school community for supporting our fine arts!

The graduation picture project is finished! Nearly every day, students gather to take pictures and have conversations about their family and friends who have graduated from BHHS. This has been a rewarding and worthwhile project!

BHHS chemistry classes explored freezing-point depression today by making their own homemade ice cream in a bag. As you can see, students also enjoyed a tasty treat!

Congrats to our Minutemen for winning the 1st game of the boys' basketball regional tonight! Our next game is on Wednesday, February 22nd, vs. Raymond (Lincolnwood) at Lincolnwood.

Sixteen Bunker Hill High School students participated in the Olympiad event today. The competition challenged students’ problem solving, cooperative learning, and construction skills. During each task, the students were asked to rely on teamwork and prior knowledge to figure out how to complete unfamiliar tasks. Teams constructed, from a single sheet of copy paper, their strongest four-and-a-half-inch column to withhold the most weight. They also used their pizza box from lunch to construct their tallest freestanding tower.. There was also a relay race with whiffle balls and plastic gutters. The BHHS students displayed good skills in communication and creative thinking.
