April

The April Student of the Month at Bunker Hill High School is Madalynn Hilyard. She is the granddaughter of Linda Kincaid and the daughter of Jasen Hilyard. She is also the older sister of Masen Hilyard.

While in high school, Maddy has participated in National Honor Society, Yearbook Club, Key Club, Future Farmers of America, Student Council, softball, volleyball, basketball, scholastic bowl, and band. She has received many awards including the National Rural and Small Town Recognition Award, National First-Generation Recognition Award, 3-Sport Athlete Award, and has been on the Principal’s List all four years. She is also a HOBY Leadership Program attendee, QuestBridge Finalist, SIUE’s Meridian Scholarship Finalist, and a recipient of SIUE’s Provost Scholarship. Outside of school, she likes to read, play video games, and hang out with her friends.

After high school, although she is currently undecided about her major and career, Maddy is considering attending SIUE to get her degree in criminal justice and psychology and become a lawyer. She has many fond high school memories, but her favorites come from the many field trips she has taken, where she was able to make new friends and become closer to the ones she already has.
