Bunker Hill CUSD #8 is pleased to announce that the district has applied for, and officially been awarded, the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) for all PK-7th grade students at Wolf Ridge for the entire 2022-2023 school year! This program, administered by the US Department of Agriculture, allows school buildings that meet a new directly certified threshold to apply for CEP. Over the past few months, the district has applied for and received Supply Chain Assistance funding to offset increased costs of products and supplies. Behind the scenes, many hours of applications, assistance calls, and advocacy work have occurred, and will continue to occur, in an attempt to obtain free meals for all of our students. This CEP award is retroactive to the beginning (August 17) of the 2022-2023 school year for all Wolf Ridge families, regardless of income or NSLP standing. In the meantime, parents should refrain from adding funds to their child’s meal account if in grades PK-7.
Unfortunately, BHHS did not meet the necessary threshold to be awarded the CEP option. We realize that this may be a disappointment to BHHS parents, but the option still remains to apply for free or reduced lunches based on income via our application found at: https://bit.ly/3RboUup
Since this program is retroactive, parents will have the following options: 1) request a refund by completing this form: https://bit.ly/3pL4yfY or notifying us via email. We ask that you please be patient as these refunds will take a while to process. 2) Leave the money on your child’s account for future milk and/or ala carte purchases or 3) apply these funds to other charges (sports, registration, etc.)
While we would love to be able to offer this program district wide, we are hopeful that this provision granting all Wolf Ridge students free breakfasts and lunches will provide our families with some financial relief in this time of rising costs. As always, please feel free to reach out with any questions. #bh8yum
