Good afternoon, Bunker Hill 8 families:
I recently attended a 2:00 teleconference call with ISBE State Superintendent Ayala, and more guidance regarding the Governor’s mandatory school closure was shared. While more was shared, more questions still remain unanswered. Please know that I will continue to keep you informed as we learn details.
Just a reminder that tomorrow (Monday, 3/16) is no school for students, and is a teacher’s institute for staff. However, both schools will be open 10am-3pm tomorrow for picking up student medications, books, supplies, Chromebooks or learning kits. E-learning and continued learning will begin on Tuesday, 3/17 and during this time, you may call your child’s school but the only building open for public entry will be the Administration Office on E Warren Street. Also, you can expect contact form your child’s teachers during this time of mandatory closure. At home learning will continue until 3/30 and right now, students will tentatively return on 3/31. However, ISBE made it clear in this call that this date may be extended.
Also, a reminder to sign up for meal services on our website or call your child’s school. Since the safety and well-being of our students are at the core of our schools, we do not want any child to be without meals during this time. Again, these are unprecedented times for Illinois schools, and we will work together to get through this. Thanks for your partnership and stay tuned for more information.
